Shane Johnston
Outfitter/Guide
Shane is filled with passion and love of the outdoors. At home on the banks of the rivers, high up on the edge of a ridge or flying around in helicopters, Shane is living his dream. Driven and fun to be around Shane loves to share his adventures with family and friends, going the extra mile to excel in everything he does. Scuba diving, skiing around the globe and pearl diving have been highlights for him over the years. He’s also partial to a cold beer and a whiskey and thoroughly enjoys a good game of rugby. Shane is 100% committed to the success and enjoyment of every client.
Vanessa Johnston
Operations Assistant and Host:
Friendly, fun loving and enthusiastic, Vanessa is the one behind the scenes. Entertaining, cuisine and assisting non hunters are her strengths along with enjoying a glass of Champagne. Loving being a mum of son Sam she enjoys socializing with friends and family, hiking, traveling to tropical locations, big game fishing, photography, shopping particularly for shoes, coffee and wine. The perfect person to look after wives, families and non hunters. Vanessa is happy to assist with all your non hunting and touring requirements.
Safari Sam
Guide in Training
Sam is the son of Vanessa and Shane and has grown up immersed in the outdoors from an early age. By just 16, he has already spent more hours hunting than many will in a lifetime, developing a deep respect for the land and a skill set well beyond his years. Passionate, disciplined, and highly capable, Sam is a natural hunter with a strong understanding of wildlife and the environments he moves through. When he’s not hunting, you’ll find him fly fishing, diving, skiing, playing rugby, or exploring the outdoors—always pushing himself to learn, improve, and live fully in the wild places he loves.
Kyle Windquist
Guide/Communications Lead
Kyle Windquist is a seasoned Real Estate Agent, owner of Backcountry Productions, and an experienced hunting guide with expertise in New Zealand, Colorado, and Michigan. With a passion for the outdoors and a knack for connecting with people, Kyle brings a meticulous attention to detail and a charismatic presence to everything he does. Kyle approaches life with energy and enthusiasm, ensuring every experience is memorable.
Luke Feast
Helicopter Pilot
Luke, brings a smile to everyones face, his laugh is infectious. He started flying at an early age and has now over 5,000 hours flying experience. A technical pilot with a wealth of mountain flying and hunting experience. You are in the hands of a very capable, safe pilot. Luke loves to have fun, when he isn’t flying he spends his time hunting, fishing, and spending time with his partner and twin daughters.
Gregory Maw
Guide
Long time member of the team, Greg’s energy and wit keeps everyone entertained. A strong, caring bloke with a heart of gold. Often called a mountain goat for his endurance, courage and skill at climbing to those often daunting peaks. Greg is at home in the mountains. A keen gun enthusiast, reloading and ballistics guru. When Greg isn’t hunting he is working on the family farm and spending time with his partner and son.
Chopper
Lead Tracker
Chopper, a handsome German Shorthaired Pointer. Named by Sam for his love of helicopters. Chopper is as enthusiastic as the rest of the team. Loved by all his companionship and hunting ability is sure to please. Chopper has a tendency to sneak up on the bunks in the cabin and park up for the night!
