power up into the glacial fed rivers for a very scenic mild or
wild jet boat safari. Our Jet boat can seat 11 passengers. We
have a 100% safety record and are in compliance with Maritime
safety authority for a commercial operation.
Jet boating is

commercial jet Safaris on the Rakaia river. The Rakaia river is
only a 10 minute drive from our accommodation Powderhouse Country
Lodge and a scenic one hours drive south west of Christchurch.
The Rakaia is world famous for its salmon and trout fishing as
well as flowing along the base of Mt Hutt Ski area. A very scenic
jet boat safari takes place from the Gorge bridge, where you will
have your life vests donned and given a briefing. Bring your
camera as we get close to a waterfall, - hear the happenings of
the area as you look up to Mt Hutt and out to the Southern Alps.
The jet boat takes you through a huge canyon and on top of the
canyon walls is a world class Golf course, Terrace Downs. You
will see the remainence of coal, big limestone rockwalls and see
where many native birds are nesting. A popular option is to Jet
boat up through the river and on return we can let you off for
you to enjoy a very scenic 2 hr walk along the river terrace on a
walkway back to the bridge - bring a camera - the views spoil
you!

of central Christchurch.
These jet Safaris take you up through the shallow braids of the
shingle strewn Waimakariri river, where you will hear of the
trout and salmon fishing to be had as you idle through a deep
aqua blue pool of cool mountain water. As we power up through the
white water towards the Alps and skim over the shallows the fresh
air is vitalising and you feel the power of the jet boat.
