After a day hunting or fishing, relax and unwind with your favourite beverage beside the cosy fire in our lodge, during the warmer months enjoy the outdoor ambience from the upstairs balcony bar as you share the stories of your outdoor adventures with like-minded sporting enthusiasts.
Awake each morning to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee followed by a hearty cooked breakfast before heading out with your experienced guide. Non-hunting or fishing guests can make full use of the fabulous in-house facilities, including private massage; or self indulge with a pamper in the Health Spa situated within the Terrace Downs High Country Resort. After an exhilarating day hunting, fishing, skiing or tackling the boutique clothing stores of Christchurch city, sit down to enjoy a gourmet evening meal in the lodge. Prepared using only the freshest local produce as well as wild game, each meal is served with the finest of New Zealand wines and hearty local beers. We appreciate that many of our clients travel from around the world to enjoy the fantastic hunting and fishing with our experienced outdoor guides, and we also appreciate that many of our clients have non-hunting partners or children that would also enjoy a New Zealand holiday. Welcome to Hunter Downs - our luxury Methven hunting and fishing lodge situated in the renowned Terrace Downs High Country Resort and golf course in the Rakaia Gorge, Canterbury.
Nestled in the foothills of the spectacular Southern Alps, our beautiful cedar and riverstone retreat has four luxury suites. Each spacious suite offers our discerning guests privacy along with marvellous views of the surrounding high country. All suites have an ensuite and a large double bed with quality linens. (Single beds are available for children).
Hunter Downs accommodation is only available to clients of Four Seasons Safaris and is designed as a luxury getaway for our hunting and fishing clients along with their family or group members that may be interested in activities other than hunting or fishing. Whether you are staying with us for fantastic fishing and hunting opportunities or have a spouse or other non-sporting members of your group - we are dedicated to providing you all with an enjoyable holiday experience!
